On Friday, June 9 Sprinters Edge began it's home track stand during the UCI points filled, World Series of Cycling. The Valley Preferred Cycling Center is host of the Series in which 19 countries were represented. Mandy Marquardt rode confidently to take the Women's Sprint title. The evening culminated with her defeat of Kaarle McColluch of Australia in the semifinals and taking two straight rides from Kate O'brien of Canada in the final round. Take away a couple of small tactical hiccups early in the competition, and Mandy rode a sharp, clean tournement. On the men's side James Mellen and Jamie Alvord showed some emerging form, with James winning the 9-12 final, and Jamie taking 11th. It was great to see large, quality fields on both the women's and men's sides- both groups had 35+ riders. Our other emerging sprinters showed nice progression as we had a couple of PB's in sprint qualification. This is good to see, as our riders on on training form and not full race form,
as we are in the middle of block of significant training load.
